Asterisk is an Open Source PBX that runs on Linux. Although many Asterisk deployments are in a full Voice-over IP environment, there is also a requirement for Asterisk to connect to the PSTN and other traditional PBXs. In order to do this, a connection is required to the "outside world".
PIKA for Asterisk provides channel drivers to allow Asterisk to communicate with PIKA boards for incoming and outgoing calls. PIKA supports both analog and digital boards with hardware and software based echo cancellation.
PIKA also supports a connection to Skype, specifically for Asterisk applications. This allows users to accept and make calls from Skype, and route them to an Asterisk station.
PIKA has recently announced the PIKA Appliance for Asterisk. This product will be available Q1 of 2008.
