Finally, a management appliance
designed to help you manage servers in remote locations. DarkSite™
is a hardware-based remote management appliance that gives you the
ability to monitor vital functions of servers
in remote locations, receive notification when
a problem occurs, and take action
to correct the problem.
Adding DarkSite to
your servers helps you meet the demand for continuous uptime and get on with your life,
eliminating the need to be in front of the servers for monitoring and maintenance.
DarkSite monitors any
server.
The DarkSite™ remote management appliance is an embedded computer system,
complete with its own operating system and Crystal’s exclusive
DarkSite control panel. It functions independently from the host
system, using only a PCI slot for power — so it’s at home in
any brand of server.
DarkSite gives you the information you need
most.
DarkSite monitors CPU
temperature, case temperature, voltages, and
external (ambient) temperatures — critical data required to prevent downtime. When a small
OS agent is installed on the host system, DarkSite will
also monitor CPU idle time, memory availability, disk space
availability, network usage, and host server "heartbeat".
Communicate securely
with DarkSite using a standard browser.
Each DarkSite card is equipped with a web
server, embedded Ethernet adapter and serial ports that are
independent of the host server and the host server's
operating system. These features allow you to connect the DarkSite card
to your network and easily access the DarkSite control
panel
from anywhere, anytime using a standard web browser.
Security concerns are addressed by allowing SSL connections to the system, and
advanced users will feel right at home configuring DarkSite through Telnet.
You will be the first to know when a problem occurs.
DarkSite allows you to select
which hardware and software systems you want to monitor and how you
want to be contacted. The DarkSite system uses
network connectivity to send alerts when a problem is detected.
DarkSite is able to send alarms to any email-enabled device such as
a pager, mobile phone, or PDA. And if you use SNMP to manage your
facility, DarkSite can send SNMP traps as well.
DarkSite lets you take action to help minimize
downtime.
DarkSite allows the remote administrator to
take action by performing a remote power cycle of the host
computer to bring the computer back on-line. This feature is
broadly supported on servers with ATX power supplies.
